Temporary Residence Renewal

• completed form „Application for the renewal of temporary residence“
• 1 recent full-face photograph (3 x 3.5 cm)
• valid travel document
• document proving the purpose of your stay
• document proving sufficient financial resources (the amount of the subsistence minimum for every month of stay. Until 30.6.2020 the subsistence minimum is 210,20 EUR/month, the subsistence minimum is always adjusted on 1 July of the current calendar year).
• document proving accommodation (researchers and university students are NOT required to submit a document confirming their accommodation arrangements)
• document on health insurance covering your stay in Slovakia

In order to see which concrete documents (e. g. a confirmation of studies letter in case of students, a hosting agreement in the case of researchers) will be accepted by the Foreign Police as a proof of the abovementioned facts, please refer to the information about a particular temporary residence.

• completed form „Application for the renewal of temporary residence“
• Valid passport
• One colour photograph (3 x 3,5 cm)
• Affidavit stating that the reasons of the temporary residence permit for the purpose of family reunification still last
• Document on health insurance
• Document on proving common accommodation with warrantor for at least 6 months of the temporary residence; in case of a shorter stay it is necessary to provide a proof of accommodation for the whole stay, e. g.
  • a confirmation from the accommodation provider,
  • a rental agreement with notarised signatures,
  • an affidavit on the provision of accommodation (with a notarized signature)
• Document on financial coverage of residence (An affidavit of the warrantor that he/she will provide the applicant with financial and material coverage – notary certified + his/her employment contract, salary statement or bank account statement). 
• NOTE: financial coverage shall be of at least the subsistence minimum for every month of stay. Until 30.6.2020 the subsistence minimum is 210,20 EUR/month, the subsistence minimum is always adjusted on 1 July of the current calendar year

The foreign police department shall make a decision on your application within 90 ays from the date of submission.

If you want to renew your residence permit for the purpose of job seeking or starting a business after completion your studies in Slovakia a university diploma (obtained during the granted temporary residence) or a confirmation on completion of your study should be submitted as a document proving the purpose of your stay. In case of researchers, who carried out a research in Slovakia, a confirmation on completion of their research activity should be submitted.

Students and researchers are required to submit document on financial coverage of the residence.

Unlike students researchers are also required to submit a document proving health insurance.

It is not necessary to submit a document proving no criminal record and medical certificate, if these documents were submitted together with the application for a temporary residence. 

Upon the successful submission of your application, the police officer will issue a a confirmation document for you.

The Foreign Police shall decide on renewal of the residence permit within 30 days from the date of submitting a complete application.
