Social Security within EU/EEA

The coordination of the social security schemes within the EU/EEA countries and the protection of migrant workers are provided on the European level and Slovak republic implements common rules. In order to fully implement the European legislation on social security coordination within the two year deadline, the Slovak republic has already undertaken several steps.

Crucial for executing social security rights of a migrant worker is cross-border exchange of information between responsible institutions. Slovak republic participates in the Electronic Exchange of Social Security Information (EESSI) and supplied this database with the relevant Slovak institutions and branches. Three national Access Points for the exchange of social security information in their respective fields of competence were appointed: Slovak Insurance Agency; Centre of Labour, Social Affairs and Family; and Healthcare Surveillance Authority.

Important part of smooth information exchange are mutually accepted documents. Slovakia acknowledges the new Portable documents that should take the place of the E-forms. Issuing of such documents is competency of the Social Insurance Agency, which continues to issue the previously used E-forms for now. Relevant documents can be downloaded from the website of Social Insurance Agency.
