Mobility centres in Slovakia
Two researcher's mobility centres has been established in Slovakia - at SAIA, n. o. in Bratislava and at the Technical University of Košice. The centres are members of the European EURAXESS Services Network which is represented in 35 countries. The project was approved by the European Commission within the 6th Framework Programme in 2004. It has been supported by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic.
Researcher's mobility centres help create a reliable and co-ordinated system for providing information about conditions governing stays for foreign researchers in Slovakia and Slovak researchers abroad. The centres assist also in removing obstacles that impede a smooth running of mobility programmes. They provide incoming and outgoing researchers and their families with information and services related to various mobility aspects, including practical information (social security, tax issues, visa requirements, education for children, etc.) about the stay in a foreign country.
The national researcher’s mobility portal (www.euraxess.sk) administered by SAIA in English and Slovak versions, is an important information-providing tool. The portal is interconnected with the European Researcher’s Mobility Portal EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion (http://ec.europa.eu/euraxess), as well as with other national mobility portals. Portals offer a free recruitment tool that allows researchers to post their CVs and search for jobs. On the other side research organisations can present their job vacancies and search for researchers´ CVs.
Mobility centres organise local, national and international seminars and conferences, prepare publications (including guides for Slovak and foreign PhD students and researchers) and information materials and participate in international co-operation. They have also created an informal Mobility Contact Points Network (SIMOB) of individuals from Slovak universities, research institutions and organisations involved in information provision and administration of international mobility and research programmes.
